KAYA KIJI VEGETABLE DISHCLOTH

Kaya Kiji Dishcloths have an intriguing background. Their outer layers of gauze are made in Nara, Japan’s hub of linen and cotton netting production, and are of the same fabric as traditional mosquito nets. The texture, which becomes soft with moisture, is ideal for mopping up small spills and wiping surfaces, made extra absorbent with inner layers of natural-fibre rayon — a great alternative to paper towels. Easy to wash and quick to dry, a total of seven layers of fabric are sewn together for each cloth.

No item is too small for good design, to see other colorful dishcloths, and other eco-friendly alternatives to paper towels, see our Japanese Textile Collection.

Kaya Kiji are made by Harada Orimono, a Wakayama-based textile manufacturer that prides itself on using hand-threaded and operated machine looms. By focusing on vibrant and elegant design, they bring colour and style to everyday items inspired by Japanese tradition.
